Tips for Consuming Iron during Pregnancy

There is no doubt that iron plays very important role in the body especially for getting healthy pregnancy. It can be found in the red blood cells which are crucial for carrying the oxygen not only to other cells but also to the fetus. More bloods will be needed during pregnancy and it means that pregnant women should eat more foods which contain iron. Iron supplement can be chosen if it is necessary. There are some tips which are useful for eating foods which are rich in iron during pregnancy.

Various Iron Rich Foods

During pregnancy, it is recommended for pregnant mother to eat the foods which are rich in iron but it should be in variety. Heme iron which can be found from animals only is necessary because it is easy to absorb by body but it is also important for taking non-heme iron which can be found from plants and animals.

Vitamin C

Pregnant women do not only need to eat the foods with iron content because they also need to eat the foods which are rich in vitamin C along with the foods which are rich in iron. It is useful for helping the absorption of the iron which can be found from the food intake. They also need to avoid tea and coffee.
